Donald Ryan
Donald
Ryan has been called “a musical
kaleidoscope, sparkling at
everything he plays." As a pianist
he has triggered enthusiastic
responses from across the U. S. A.
in venues as diverse as the fabled
Carnegie Hall and the Wayne Newton
Theater in Las Vegas. He is a
diplomate and Madeyska Award
recipient of the Ninth International
Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in
Warsaw, Poland.
The applause has resounded also in
England, France, Germany, Austria,
Spain, Switzerland and the
Caribbean. Among the many luminaries
he has collaborated with are Franco Autori, Henry Mancini, Ralph
Carmichael, Eddie Daniels, Steve
Wilkerson, Diahann Carroll, Eileen
Farrell, Johnny Desmond, Joe
Williams, Andrea Baker, William
Warfield, Leona Mitchell, and Simon
Estes.
Mr. Ryan showed a keen proclivity
towards music when he was only a
preschooler in his native Trinidad,
West Indies. By his early teens he
was a prizewinner in national
competitions, and was the pianist
for a live, weekly radio program
that reached the entire eastern
Caribbean. He earned a B. Mus. Ed.
degree from Oral Roberts University
and M. Mus from the University of
Tulsa.
At present Donald Ryan continues an
active career in music as a concert
and recording artist, and as a
member of the keyboard faculty at
his alma mater, Oral Roberts
University. He also serves on the
boards of the Tulsa Performing Arts
Center Trust, the Ragtime For Tulsa
Foundation, and is a member of the
Mayor's Task Force For The
Performing Arts. |

About the TSO...
The Tulsa Symphony Orchestra employs professional
musicians with the focused, collective, and ongoing
aim of presenting all kinds of music of the highest
quality. The TSO functions throughout the year, and
is comprised of self-governing “executive
musicians”—individuals who perform masterful music
and execute the many decisions involved in
sustaining a major orchestra. With a variety of
performances and concerts, in-school events,
community-engagement programs, classroom lessons,
collaborative master classes, and other such
appearances, the TSO intends to invigorate and
broaden arts education all across the City of Tulsa
and, further, the State of Oklahoma. Rebuilding and
strengthening the musical arts infrastructure of
this city and its environs will remain a key concern
and core value of the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra.
